Definition of Book Value Method

The book value method is a method of valuing a company. It's based on the company's balance sheet. No attempt is made to account for the fair market value of the assets or the going concern value of the business. For that reason, it's usually a poor measure of a company's real value. Its main virtue is simplicity.
