Definition of Due Diligence

Due diligence is the research and analysis an investor or acquirer will do on a startup before committing to invest in or acquire the company. This usually includes reviewing key company documents in the startup's data room, interviewing the founders, and perhaps even key customers. Due diligence can be frustrating for startups but it's always made easier by being well-organized.
